Meet my wonderful boys

My husband and I are blessed with three beautiful boys, Grayson, Clayton, and Richard (Rich). Although they can be a handful sometimes, I love them with all my heart.

I would like to share a favorite memory of the boys. We were down at the shore for a scrapbooking competition. Sensing that I was nevous about my scrapbook, the boys brought me beautiful shells from the beach and suggested that I glue them to the cover of the scrapbook, to add visual interest.

That year I placed second in the competition. The judges praised my "unique and arresting use of shells" — and of course I had only my boys to thank.

I invited them to join me onstage as I accepted my trophy. But they are humble boys and dislike the limelight.

Clayton clasped my hand warmly, exclaiming, "Mom, the victory is yours!" Oh, they are such wonderful boys.

Grayson

Grayson, the eldest, is the athlete of the family. You might assume that since he plays soccer and flag football, he has no brains. But actually he is as intelligent and sensitive as he is athletic.

His Grandpa gave young Grayson the nickname "Muscles" for his remarkable physical strength, which exceeds that of his peers. At 12 years old, he is already playing in the soccer league for 13- and 14-year-olds!

"Muscles" is also beloved for his sportsmanship. In fact, he received the Sportsman of the Year Award from the league, in recognition of the time he selflessly surrendered to the opposing team upon discovering that they were down a player (the missing player had strep throat).

We think that Grayson will be taller than my husband. He is just growing so quickly!

Clayton

Clayton, the middle child, can usually be found in the art room making artwork. He loves to express himself through his boundless creativity.

Last year I collaborated with some other homeschool parents to put on an outdoor talent show, where Clayton presented an original piece on the clarinet. One audience member was so moved that he shed a tear! My husband and I think that Clayton will go far in one of the creative arts.

Lately he has taken an interest in my most cherished hobby, scrapbooking. When he comes of age, I am sure he will enter scrapbooking competitions right alongside me.

Richard (Rich)

Richard is the youngest of our three boys.
